Supervision of activities with healthcare professionals in France
Charter on promotional information
In December 2004, France’s pharmaceutical industry trade association (Leem) and the Economic Committee for Health Products (CEPS) signed a charter for medical sales representatives aimed at improving the quality of medical information provided to doctors and reinforcing good usage practices.
This charter, which was developed based on quality standards defined in a medical sales representative reference document established by the profession, was amended in 2009 to extend its scope of application to the medical sales representative activities in healthcare institutions.
As part of the renegotiation of the framework agreement of 5 December 2012, concluded between Leem and CEPS, the parties agreed to revise this charter to include provisions of the French “Bertrand” Act concerning promotional activities.
The charter on information provided by canvassing or prospecting for the promotion of drugs was signed on 15 October 2014, with modification of the scope of the previous charter and the obligations of companies.
The Regulation on the certification of information provided by canvassing or prospecting for the promotion of drugs was published in March of 2017 on the French High Health Authority (HAS) website.
As part of the commitments made by its Management team and through its quality policy, LFB BIOMÉDICAMENTS has committed to a quality approach for its practices and its medical sales representative activities have been certified since 30 November 2010.
